Teresa Cramer, CPM
Teresa is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). A Michigan native and Calvin College graduate, Teresa developed her interest for midwifery shortly after the birth of her first nephew. Since then, she has assisted families as a midwife, doula, and childbirth educator in Michigan, Maine, Pennsylvania and Boston. Teresa is passionate about providing families with holistic and informed care during their childbearing years. Valuing each individual family, Teresa is quick to listen and understand each client's needs to ensure a safe and empowering birth experience.
Teresa completed her midwifery education at Birthwise Midwifery School where she worked in a small homebirth practice in Southern Maine and a large volume homebirth practice in Pennsylvania amongst the Amish community. Before returning to Grand Rapids, Teresa was a primary midwife at JP Midwifery in Boston and provided back-up assistance to Ann Kilroy, CPM. Teresa's wide range of experience enhances her ability to provide culturally sensitive and evidence based care to each client and family.
When not working with families and babies, Teresa enjoys West Michigan life with her husband, Jeff, usually gardening, learning about herbalism, cooking, reading, crafting and playing at the beach.
Jennifer Holshoe, CPM
Jennifer is a Certified Professional Midwife and owner of West Michigan Midwifery. Before becoming a midwife, Jennifer worked as a doula supporting families in West Michigan since 2009. She trained as a CPM in a direct midwifery apprenticeship with Full Circle Midwifery in Hesperia and became certified in February of 2016. Her passion is empowering women to make the best decisions they can for themselves and their families'. Her personal childbirth experience ranging from an intervention free vaginal birth, a c-section and a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) significantly impacted herself personally as well as shaped her as a midwife. She discovered the importance of continuity of care and strong emotional support through the process of pregnancy, birth and parenting. She views each journey as a unique experience and should be cared for as such.
Jennifer grew up in Michigan and imagines she will always reside here. She has been married for 18 years to her husband, Rich. Together, they have three daughters: Lily, Rosie and Daisy. They love hiking, gardening and enjoy spending their Michigan summers kayaking, boating and at the beach.
